Sorry for the somewhat brutal method of producing reports, but was caused by the need to develop rather quickly a set of reports that are very similar. A sample report looks like this: And that was nice, specify the title with a logo ... ... and finally I will make it prompt for selecting a distribution channel. The result: Now we need a similar report, but he does not have a column Year, but the moon. Report using cloning to create and edit XML definition. Click on the "Advanced" and the entire contents of the box " XML Request "... ... Pick up the clipboard. Open any text editor and insert it into the clipboard contents. In Word, select the Edit tab - Replace and replace the word by Month ... Year ... choose "Replace All". Now pick up the clipboard modified text from Word and replaced by the XML code in the "XML Application". Then choose "Set up the XML 'and cloned report can save under a different name than the original. Sample cloned report: You can try to change works in the prompt, you can even replace the column selection prompt Year Month column. It works even for the logo (instead of the submitted logo Rok1_logo.jpg Mesic1_logo.jpg) and of course also works for pivot tables and graphs. It's a great feeling when you clone a complicated report as follows, where the very names of replacement items will be thirty! Of course, cloning has its limits. If it works, it is a reward for good design and clear reports and rationally chosen object names. Post created and sent George Doubravsky - BI / DW Consultant PIKE Electronic.
